Hi I’m Renee,

I was raised a very strict catholic by my grandmother due to the untimely death of my father when I was only 4 years old. I benefited greatly from having strong spiritual practice from such a young age and learned how discipline can help you achieve many things in life. But even though I was very devout from a young age there was always the sense that something was missing, for me it just wasn’t enough.

In my late teens/early adulthood, I was about to give up on life. I was depressed, anxious, and suffering from the unresolved trauma surrounding my father’s death. Thankfully, just when I thought all was lost, I found Buddhism, Yoga, and PsychologyThese practices bridged the gaps of my solely religious practice and assisted me in becoming a more deeply spiritual and whole person, giving me the tools that I needed to pull myself from the depths of despair.

As I began to heal and nurture my inner self, life started to become good again. I knew that I had to build a life with these aspects at the core of it, which is what led, me to become a Registered Massage Therapist, Yoga Therapist, and eventually open a highly successful yoga studio. Something inside of me knew that I needed all these practices as close as possible for me to continue healing so I made sure they were.

Eventually, I settled down a bit got married and had a baby, I was so happy I could burst. Until postpartum depression hit me. What a whirlwind of unfortunate and unwanted emotions, I felt alone and unsupported by those around me, isolated really (even though that wasn’t the reality of the situation) it was horrible. Fortunately for me once I figured out what was going on, I already had the groundwork laid and many tools at my disposal to help myself overcome a difficult time.

As fate would have it this is the time when Kundalini Yoga really entered my life. I cannot say more about Kundalini yoga, I know it is not everyone’s flavour, but again a lifesaver for me. I dove in headfirst into vigorous daily practice and didn’t miss a beat for almost a year. I had never felt stronger emotionally in all my life and my body felt and looked amazing. My increased mental clarity helped me realize I was also in an emotionally abusive relationship, then gave me the strength I needed to get myself and my son out of it intact. Eventually leading me to Brad, the co-creation of a much healthier relationship, and a life that I used to think couldn’t be mine.

Over the years, I’ve studied all over the world taking intensive training in India, Thailand, Massachusetts, and California many times. I mainly studied yoga therapy, ashtanga, kundalini, and yin yoga. But I am also trained in Thai massage, cranial sacral therapy, different forms of meditation, Ayurveda, herbology and TRX suspension training. I’ve just about taken everything that interested me in relation to health and wellness. Throughout my career, I’ve taught and/or helped many wonderful people therapeutically in a variety of ways but have shifted my focus solely to women for the next step of my journey.

Since yoga and my spiritual practices will remain in my life until I am no longer here I now want to turn the focus of these practices towards helping other women. Whether it be achieving their goals, overcoming trauma or loss, navigating an abusive relationship, dealing with postpartum depression, or any other mental/emotional struggle. I can also help with just feeling better in your body, working on arm balances, inversions, or developing a healthy toned physique. Regardless of how I help women I know that all of yoga lends to a woman becoming stronger, more courageous, and empowered, which is how all women should feel.

In my spare time, you’ll find me fermenting almost everything,  creating healthy baked goods, drawing, working on my organic permaculture farm, or spending time with my family.

Namaste/Pura Vida,

~ Renee
